Electronic Merchant Systems (EMS)
EMS As Spring approaches, the days grow longer and people start heading out doors. The year is just getting started and business is preparing to ramp up. It’s time to start thinking about your business and how to best capitalize on the increase in activity. It’s time to consider a gift and/or loyalty card program from Electronic Merchant Systems (EMS). Gift card programs lead to profits for businesses not only by increasing their reach to new customers when gift cards are given as gifts, but 75% of consumers spend more than 60% of the original worth of the gift card, which means that $50 gift card is likely to lead to an $80 transaction. Loyalty programs yield even bigger gains for businesses. Companies with a loyalty program increase same store sales by 4.5%, increase retention by 14%, and average purchase and visits by 24%! These are numbers you can’t afford to ignore. Statistics aside, EMS’ Altus Premier program has everything you need. Summa Western Reserve Hospital
Summa Western Reserve Hospital was one of four sites that recently joined a live video conference with Governor Kasich recently to discuss a ten-fold boost to OARnet’s statewide network bandwidth, an initiative to bolster an accelerated network to serve as a technological pipeline for the latest advancements in medical research and technology within Ohio’s medical corridor. The extensive broadband network will benefit the state for training doctors on the newest clinical procedures, network physicians to allow experts to share their advances and innovations such as the ultrasound guided pain relief procedures pioneered by Dr. Samer Narouze, Chairman, Center for Pain Medicine at Summa Western Reserve Hospital. Doctors and researchers at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine, Summa Western Reserve Hospital in Cuyahoga Falls and the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine showcased the latest research technology during the video conference and discussed how Ohio’s accelerated bandwidth of 100 Gigabits per second (Gbps) will allow them to collaborate on a global scale—greatly enhancing the state’s medical corridor as a leading hub for clinical innovation, research, patient care and medical education. Under a recently approved agreement with Cisco and Juniper, Ohio will invest approximately $10 million to harness new innovative technology that will, in essence, “open the faucet” of Ohio’s current broadband infrastructure, over 1,850 miles of fiber, from its current 10 Gbps capacity to an impressive 100 Gbps. This expansion leverages the fiber optic network operated by OARnet, a member of the Ohio Board of Regents Ohio Technology Consortium. The 100 Gbps network will connect Ohio’s major metropolitan areas to northern and southern connection points of Internet2, a nationwide advanced networking consortium led by the research and education community, spanning U.S. and international institutions who are leaders in the worlds of research, academia, industry and government. For the network, $8.1 million will fund hardware development for Phase 1, which will connect Cleveland, Columbus, Cincinnati, Dayton and Toledo by June 2012 and Phase 2 markets of Akron, Athens and Youngstown by October 2012. http://oh-tech.org

Is proud to be endorsed as the preferred workers’ compensation Managed Care Organization of the Cuyahoga Falls Chamber of Commerce since 1997. If you are responsible for your workers’ compensation program, it is important to have a fundamental understanding of the roles of a MCO and a Workers’ Compensation Third Party Administrator (TPA). MCOs and TPAs play unique roles in helping employers control workers’ compensation costs. What is the difference between a MCO and a TPA? What is a MCO? Under Ohio’s Health Partnership Program, MCOs are responsible for the medical management of Ohio employers’ work-related injuries and illnesses. Every employer in Ohio must have a MCO, which is paid for directly by the BWC. Further, MCO associates are medical professionals and their processes are clinically focused. They work diligently to help employers avoid the most costly of claims – lost time claims – when an injured worker is off work for eight or more consecutive days. With clinicians managing the medical care and transitioning injured workers back to gainful employment, employers are better able to manage their long term insurance premiums. What is a TPA? A Third Party Administrator (TPA) assists employers in the administrative and financial aspects of a claim. TPA staff typically consists of claim representatives, account representatives, and other workers’ compensation professionals.
